Enterprising Coastal Communities Conference 4th March 2011
Open to all with an interest in Business, Enterprise and our Coastal Communities this conference asks how, in a challenging economic climate, enterprise can be stimulated and sustained in our coastal communities. Presenters included: Neil Parish MP; Dr. Mark Horton of the acclaimed BBC TV programmes Coast and Inside Out; Sir William Wakeham Chairman of the East Devon Science Park Company; Jeremy Filmer-Bennett of the Devon& Cornwall Business Council; Tim Jones Chairman pf the Devon Economic Partnership; Patrick Browne of the Coastal Communities Alliance; Chris Marrow expert advisor on Marine and Waterborne Transport; Amanda Bloomer of the Kingsbridge Information Service plus other leaders from Business, Tourism Services and Government. Supported by Devon County Council and the Ladram Bay Holiday Park this event paved the way for further work to energise and incentervise our coastal communities.

Waste Management Conference 1 Oct 2010
Around a hundred people attended the 'Aspects of Future Waste Management in Devon' conference in Tiverton on Friday 1st October The event was organised by the Devon Towns Forum and partners and was generously supported by Viridor plc and Devon County Council making it possible for the Towns Forum to maintain its tradition of providing free access to as many people as possible to its events. With three major themes including Energy from Waste, the need to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle plus opportunities for Community Involvement there was plenty of food for thought and some excellent presentations too! Devon Towns Forum and Networking Reception 2010
Now a popular fixture is the Towns Forum's approach to its obligatory Annual General Meeting to combine business with an opportunity to meet, network and enjoy a reception buffet as our way of saying a big thank you to our members and supporters. The 2010 Networking Reception took the need to collaborate and work in partnership as its theme. With well over a thousand people who have now used the Towns Forum services we are keeping the flame alight for all those in Devon's Market Towns who are working to make Devon a great Place to live, work and enjoy..... Towns Forum Gala Evening with excellent and highly informative presentations from James Hassett CEO of the Market and Coastal Towns Association, Philip Collins from Natural England and Professor Michael Winter from Exeter University, the 'Making a Difference' Gala evening was topped off with a fantastic presentation from BBC TV's Sam Smith.
